bacteria drawings
Materials: petri dishes, agar, water, food coloring, swabs
Size: 9 cm diameter

The emerging area of biodesign is inspiring to me, as it takes influence from nature and nature's systems to design. That is what I am trying to achieve in my future design work.
Representational Drawings Process:
-
Create Petri dishes with agar, water, and broth
-
Swab areas around the house
-
Grow bacteria
-
Harvest bacteria to paint representational works
Dyeing Mold Process:
-
Created Petri dishes with agar, water, and broth
-
Swab areas around the house
-
Waited for bacteria, in this case, mold to grow
-
Mixed food coloring with vodka and dropped into dishes and wait between colors
This project was done in the BioDesign course at CCA taught by Michael Bogart and Lynda Grose
